Definition - Texture

Definition:

Web Definition:
The web definition of texture is it comprises the small local deviations of a surface from the perfectly flat idea.

My Definition:
My definition of texture is any surface that appears to have indentations, lumps, bumps or any type of imperfection as opposed to a perfectly flat surface.

Rough,
Undulating,
Character,
Fabric,
Taste,
Feel,
Scheme,
Form,
Grain,
Warp,
Organization.

Here we see that the surface of the leaf looks rough but the light that hits it tells us that the surface has a layer of gloss over it which makes it a sticky rough smooth surface.

In this image we can tell the texture of the surface just by looking at it, because there is scale like pieces stacked on each other it creates a rough texture and the wood also create a rough surface. This is emphasised by the direction of the light.

Here we can see the surface of the Elephant is rough because the pit marks on the animal create a scale like almost burnt structure which make it rough. The light adds to how rough the surface appears.

We can't tell the texture of the snow because as soon as we touch it, it changes and compresses. It can be rough and smooth at the same time it tends to take on the form of what is under it.
