The reason I have chosen to do Larry Burrows is because I find his work he did in Vietnam to be inspiring and think his work is great. My favourite of his work is called "Reaching Out". His work shows the emotion of all the solders that he has captured and he mangoes to capture the respect that people had for these solders because of the way he manges to capture the solders on photo.
Here in this image we can see that Larry Burrows has captured the happy expression of a solder as they go off into battle with his machine gun in hand and ready to fire at his enemies. |
Here we have an image of a large group of solders after what seems to be a helicopter crash. Here we can see the devastation to both the solders and the landscape that the plan crash has had on them. |
Larry Burrows is another example of a photographer that uses tone in his photographs. I like how in the above photo. In this we see that he took the photo in black and white and also managed to capture the dust that was put up in the crash. This makes the image look a lot darker and also adds a new level of detail to the image which makes it a rather amazing image.
This photographer has influenced me to try and get more controversial image and to get into the thick of the image I am trying to capture. This is because all of his photos can be viewed as controversial. He also gets in the thick of his photos by getting up close and personal with the object he is photographing. His type of controversial photo would be people in the act of killing the way I used his work to influence me is instead of getting a photo of someone in the act of killing I decided to take a photo of the aftermath of a war that happened a long time ago.
