Work Diary - Shape

Evaluation:

There are many "Formal Elements" in photography and in this section I looked at Shape. I enjoyed going out and finding strange and unusual shapes to photograph and then coming back to do some creative editing with the strange photo I had taken. I also enjoyed finding out new features on my camera which I had been previously unknown to me.
In this image I liked the single round object an a wall of square bricks. The slight sooty discolouration round this vent makes the disk almost like its floating by the wall. I emphasised this by adding more contrast to the image.

In this photo I like that I can see two circles one made made and
the other created by the condensation of the water under the glass
plate. Back in the studio I isolated this and made the montage you see below.

By using a vignette and cutting out with a large feather I made this montage. I like the colour and overlapping metal whic make the image almost look painted.

Progression:
If I were to continue with this subject I would like to take photos of unusual shapes both man made and natural.  I think the contrast between each would make a good project. In the example below I like the softness of the organic shapes and the natural intense colour of the plant.

I really like the way the water droplet clings into the petal and reflects the word around. I think this was probably set up and that the photographer used a tripod to get the shot.

Being at the right place at the right time and with a camera is often luck. The shape of this cloud looks like it should be man made so, for me blurs the difference between man made and natural objects.

In this image we can see that the photographer has taken photos monkey hoops and has placed some of them at different angles so it creates an effect of the hoops getting smaller as each time you go though one.

Here we see a photographer has taken a photo of lots of stacked pipes. Each stacked pipe is a cylinder with an open circle on the end of it. We can see that the pipes are each different lengths out and they create larger circle the closer to the cam are they are.

In this image we see a crescent moon. This image is a  moon shaped image and is an unusual shape because it is only seen naturally on the moon.
In this image we see that the photographer has taken a photo of a bridge with a multitude of  different shapes all combined together to create a storage shaped bridge. Here the photographer has seen that and has decided to capture those shapes created on the bridge.

Image Bank - Shape

Here is a collective of image that have some sort of connection to shape. Each photographer has decided to get a photo that is direly connected to shape. Each image I have found I got them from the internet. Shapes in photography are rather interesting because they are interesting. The shape in the images are all rather basic but are made with interesting methods.

Here we see a photographer as arranged these colouring pencil points to form a circle. This is done by have the tips at a certain angle this creates a circle by using the sides of the tips to continue on the edge of the circle.

In this image we see that the main shape seen repeated throughout the  image is an arch shape which is repeated down the tunnel. This image involves two more formal elements which are depth because of how the tunnel goes from a large area to a small area and there is also tone of black and white involved with this image.

This photographer has managed to capture the ripples made in water dying some rain. These ripples produces lots of circles in the water that are all different sizes because each droplet falls in a different area at a different time.

This image shows eleven marbles placed to look like a heart which is a shape in it's self and also each marble is spiracle in it's own shape. The photographer has managed to capture to spiritlessness of the marbles and shape of the heart.

This image shows two different shapes, the photographer has taken a photo of a downward spiral and has also managed to get a shape of a leaf in the image as well.
In this image we can see that the photographer has seen that the balls are a shape and those balls create a shape if you were to join them all up. If you were to draw a line to each ball you would see a pentagon. This is created because of the angle of the cam are and were the photographer has taken the photo.
