Work Diary - Movement

Evaluation:
I really enjoyed shooting these photos. My favourite section of photography is movement and using light and exposure to create great photos works so well. By controlling the shutter speed you can create such a huge variety of different looks even from the same subject. I particularly like working at night.

The thing I love about this photo is it captures so many things. I live by the A10 so I walked up to the bridge over it one evening  and experimented with exposure times. In this image I caught an aeroplane right above the road shining its light. Above that the moon was full so that was reflecting light in to the clouds. The distant light on the horizon was London and the red and white trails were cars moving in both directions. This was is so far my best shot while taking my course.
I also like this photo of mine which uses a technique called light painting, this is were you use light to create an interesting image that looks really good. This exposure was around 15 seconds and and I got someone with a sparkler to run around the garden.

Progression:
If I were to continue this subject which I would like to do I would get more shots of light steams and also try to get a shot of the stars as they move around in the night sky this would be done by leaving the exposure on for the whole night or by taking multiple long exposures.

The way you achieve this image is by using bulb mode in the camera. I estimate this shot was about 10 x 30 second exposures merged together. Actually its not a great night shot. As there is too much light in the fore ground and it looks like bad editing on th skyline.
In this photo someone has taken a photo from up high and they haveleft the exposure on for a long period of time and as the multiple cars go by they leave behind a trail of light which is captured by the camera. I like this as the light stream leads the eye up into the town.  Still not as good as my shot!

Definition - Movement

Definition:

Web Definition:
The definition of movement is an act of moving.

My Definition:
Movement is when you capture someone moving within an image.

Act,
Evolve,
Deed,
Moving,
Passage,
Flight,
Flux,
Flow.

Here we see someone has manged to capture the movement of cars at a junction of a busy road in the USA. Here we see the photographer has manged to successfully capture the movement of the yellow taxis and the movement of the people as the cross the road and walk around.

In this image we see someone has hit a load of pool balls and left the exposure on to capture the movement of the balls as they disperse across the table, i would say the exposure on this image is maybe 15-30 seconds so they could get the full disperse of the balls.

Here we see a photographer has manged to capture people movement as they go though an airport. This image shows  how busy an airport can be and because the image is in black and white people automatically notice the busyness of the  airport.

Here we see someone has caught an image of a train as it drives past a station and the photographer has got a person waiting for their train in the image as well. This image really shows how the motion of the train is really fast because the women in the image is not blurred due to movement in exposure.

Image Bank - Movement

Here are some images I found on the internet to do with movement. The way a photographer gets photos in movement is by leaving the exposure of the camera on for a longer period of time which allows more light to be taken in over a longer period of time because the shutter is open for longer. This causes an afterimage effect which follows the actual image.

Here we see the movement across the image of the dice as shown by the motion blur behind the dice in their current possession in the image. Movement can make rather interesting image because it looks like a magic trick because of the afterimage effect.
In this photo the photographer has had the camera above the model as she span around to leave a trail of her arms and legs in the photo. I like how her head looks the same and not blurred because it makes it look like her head didn't move.
I like in this photo that it looks like someone has quickly moved out of the way to avoid something and left a distorted image of the person. This looks like a rather horrific image because the person has their mouth open which makes the image look like there is some sort of demonic possession occurring in the image.
I love these types of photos because you have a singular point in the sky, the north star, which is not moving and as the Earth turns the star surrounding it make an orbit round in the sky. It leaves circles in the sky because it is tracking the movement of the light from the stars.

I like in this photo that there is a stationary person with buses driving past which leaves lots of blurred bus like figures. This is rather interesting because sit creates an effect the the buses are moving faster than normal because they are leaving a blur when the man walking isn't leaving a blur behind.

What I like about this photo is that the bear is not blurred but everything behind it is blurred, because it is on a roundabout so anything on the roundabout will be clear and the background will  look blurred.
